04/06/2021 Findhorn Valley and Loch Ruthven

Treecreeper, Findhorn Valley

Travelling from Aviemore to Loch Ness today via Findhorn Valley and Loch Ruthven RSPB. Findhorn was quiet except for territorial Eurasian Curlew and Oystercatcher. Common Cuckoo, Peregrine and Common Redstart were the most notable birds.

Common Cuckoo

There were no Eagles seen up Findhorn Valley but driving across the moor on the Farr Road produced a very nice Sub-adult Golden Eagle.
Loch Ruthven was also quiet but the Slavonian Grebes showed well despite the hide closure. Red-throated Diver, Sand Martin and Red Kite also noted.
